PHILADELPHIA 2014
Philadelphia is sited at the meeting point of two rivers, the Delaware and the Schuylkill. These rivers were originally recipients of hundreds of streams that flowed throughout the city. With the city’s rapid growth and urban density, all but a few of these streams have been paved over. The waterways in Philadelphia are crucial to its economic well being and more recently have become important places of recreation. While the storm surge/flooding scenario is not as dramatic as locations such as NYC or Miami, the relationship to water and its potential for devastation is still resonant with Philadelphia residents.
